About the Artist
When visiting art museums, I have always been deeply moved viewing great paintings.
My need to study each painting up close would often trigger the proximity alarm or a stern guard telling me to stand back.
My early desire to become a professional artist was briefly interrupted by a 40-year career as a professor of pathology and immunology at a medical school (okay, it was interesting and paid the bills).
As my career began to wind down six years ago, I started to paint using oil on canvas. I can say I am self-taught, but in truth, I have benefited from observing, and hopefully, learning from the work of numerous great artists. I particularly love to capture the emotions of people at meaningful moments.
At the synagogue I attend, there are currently 16 of my oil paintings displayed that capture the vibrant life of my community. I would be honored to do a painting for you that will inspire you and further enrich your life.
All the best,
Cliff Snapper, 2022
